Recently, the jewelry brand Lokai came together with a non-profit organization Charity: Water to create “Walk with Yeshi”, a Facebook Messenger bot.
You may have heard about the launch of Facebook Messenger bots earlier this year (if not, here is a little about them). Companies have since started using these as a means of interacting with consumers.
This bot provides a two-and-a-half-hour experience that allows Facebook users to witness the journey of a woman named Yeshi, who lives in rural Ethiopia and walks two-and-a-half hours every day in search of water. When someone chats with the “Walk with Yeshi” bot, Yeshi responds and can then send anything from images, audio clips, videos and maps – giving people the capability to follow her route for the day.
You hear it time and time again: “you never really understand a person until you’ve walked a mile in their shoes”. Well, now you’ve walked two-and-a-half miles with Yeshi. These companies did an excellent job of using the digital space to spotlight an increasingly necessary-to-address issue going on in the world.
