Scentee is a Japanese smartphone plug-in designed to alert individuals of mobile activity through their sense of smell. Compatible with iPhone and Android devices, the plug-in releases a burst of fragrance when users receive a text, call or mobile app notification. These scent releases can also be added to social networks, SMS, games and alarms. Users can choose from a wide variety of smells including cinnamon roll, curry and lavender, with limited edition Korean BBQ scents rolling out on November 15th. Lab experts are also currently working on creating a bacon scent to add to their aroma library. The initial product launch will take place in Japan, but will be selling through to US consumers as well. Scentee could potentially change the mobile marketing landscape by allowing brands to share their scented products, like perfumes or food, via mobile devices.
