In the days leading up to Halloween, Oreo’s Instagram feed is being haunted by cookie and candy creature creations. So far, the miniature lab from which the creatures are hatched has churned out a candy corn bat and an Oreo flytrap (grown from a jelly bean). The intricately detailed set only measures 32-by-64 inches, and is being used to create both still photographs and short animations, perfect content for Facebook and Instagram. Oreo has also introduced an interactive element to the campaign as well, allowing users to name their creations (which you can read more about here on Adweek). What ultimately makes this content a success for Oreo is the high level of quality coupled with a bit of quirkiness, all commensurate with what consumers have come to expect with the brand.
