To promote their redesigned site and user interface, online invitation site Punchbowl spiked conversation with a sweepstakes designed to convert competitive users.

Punchbowl is inviting people to tweet why they’re leaving Evite, the longtime leader in the online invitation space, with the tag #AdiosEvite to be entered to win a $1000 AmericanExpress gift card. The campaign kicked off with a full page LA Times print ad, in the form of a letter to Evite from Punchbowl.

While Punchbowl touts improved functionality with their redesign and better features than Evite, the most common response among initial consumers tweeting #AdiosEvite focuses on better invitation designs, which is no surprise given the role invitations play in building an image for an individual.
