The Quaker Oats company has partnered up America’s Milk Companies through the Milk Life campaign to give the famous Quaker man a milk mustache. The company is now taking it a step further by incorporating the use of augmented reality directly on their packaging. Using the app, Blippar consumers can scan the Quaker man (Larry) with their smartphone to reveal a unique digital experience with the physical package. The experience reveals Larry with the addition of a milk mustache. Users are encouraged to take a “milk mustache” selfie to unlock a series of Quaker recipes which all include ways to enjoy milk with Quaker Oats. In addition to the AR tie-in users can also join or explore the conversation socially using the #QuakerwithMilk.
There could be a few hurdles to cross getting consumers to stop and interact with this is-store, however the idea to bring such a standard household product to life through AR is impactful. For both products it’s a smart way to leverage the relevancy milk with Quaker Oats and to enhance their existing partnership. To read more about this click here
