Last week, SnapChat Spectacles went on sale, but in true SnapChat style, you have to be at the right place at the right time to get them.
SnapChat is distributing its Spectacles, which give users the chance to capture first-person perspective video then share it via SnapChat, via “SnapBots” – a virtual-reality enabled vending machine that shows up in random locations across the United States. So far, two have shown up in California and one in Oklahoma. Users can track their appearances on the Spectacles website, or they can sign up with an influencer-created Snapbot Spotter tool to get a heads-up on the next location.
Combining real-life experiences with digital sharing is the heartbeat of SnapChat, and this SnapBot activation just an extension…an extension that could mark the company’s foray into additional, tangible innovations.
