Social enterprise Solarbox, repurposes London’s iconic phone booths into solar powered charging stations.
The newly painted green booths are open to the public (free of charge) and solve a common battery-life problem by giving mobile phones a 20% boost within a matter of minutes. The concept received a lift in funding when it placed second in the Low Carbon Entrepreneur competition allowing it to rollout this month in various locations around London. Following the significant media attention and user support, the brand is working to launch a crowd-funding campaign to invest in kiosks on a larger scale.
