Volkswagen made test driving cars fun again with a social media game of “tag” to promote new updates to its popular Polo model. To mix up the standard test drive, Volkswagen amplified the experience by crafting a more competitive, thrilling ride through “Polo Tag”. The social game, invited followers to spot the Polo as it passed through three major cities in South Africa and tag its location on Twitter. After tagging, individuals could then test drive the Polo themselves until it was spotted and tagged by others. Volkswagen tweeted helpful hints daily, as well as provided real-time mapping of the car’s location for players to follow.
