To make sure families don’t miss out on typical fun summer activities this year, Walmart is hosting a virtual summer camp and drive-in movie experience.
Starting July 8th, Camp by Walmart will offer a variety of free video sessions through its mobile app, featuring topics such as fitness, arts and crafts, fashion and performing arts. The retailer has promised 250 different activities throughout the summer, some of which will be led by celebrity camp counselors Drew Barrymore, Neil Patrick Harris, LeBron James, Idina Menzel and Todd Oldham. Walmart is also partnering with Tribeca Enterprises to transform 160 store parking lots into contact-free drive-in movie theaters all over the country, providing a total of 320 showings from August to October.
Walmart is finding innovative ways to provide consumers with what they need during these difficult times, outside of just physical everyday essentials. By offering these activities, the retailer is likely to see an increase in mobile app downloads while also keeping its curbside pickup option top of mind.
