The NBA’s Golden State Warriors took advantage of a growing distribution channel to get the word out about their new alternate uniforms – their fans. The team identified ten social media influencers in their fan base and invited them to Twitter headquarters for a special event: unveiling the new sleeved jerseys from Adidas. Third-year small forward, Harrison Barnes, was on hand to model the new look and pose for photos and Vines while giving the fans a bit of that celebrity connection. Combined with a slick teaser video and the #DubsConfidential hashtag campaign, the Warriors and Adidas capitalized on the somewhat niche appeal of their announcement by getting the news to the fans who want it most by way of their trusted connections on Twitter.
